Hall County Fire Services is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home at 8071 Lula Road Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the northeast Hall home at 10:05 a.m. to find that fire had engulfed about three-fourths of the 1,500-square-foot home.

The house’s owner is Terry Grier, who had rented it to Freddy Meeks, who is married and has a son, Chief David Kimbrell said.

The family had left the home about 8 a.m. Tuesday. A passer-by later noticed smoke and called 911.

Damage to the house is estimated at $150,000. It was "pretty much a total loss," Kimbrell said.
