A well-liked music instructor at Gainesville State College has been hospitalized after a car crash.

Mercer Crook, an adjunct instructor in the college’s music department, is at Atlanta Medical Center and will not be able to teach for the remainder of the semester, said Sloan Jones, a spokeswoman for the college.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Jones said. “He is certainly loved by his students.”

Attempts to reach Crook’s family were unsuccessful, and the Georgia State Patrol was not able to verify details of the accident at press time.
