Hoping to rebrand their image and credentials in a politically conservative community, liberals and progressives celebrated the grand opening Thursday night of the new Hall County Democratic Party headquarters on Athens Street in Gainesville. “I believe strongly in the ideals of the Democratic Party,” said Chairman Frank Lock, “and more needed to be done here to re-establish those ideals and have our government represent everyone ...” Lock, who became chairman in January, hopes to reignite the party, which had been out of the local political mix since the 2012 election. Lock said he wants to increase membership rolls and recruit candidates for local office.
