Hall and surrounding counties are under a tornado watch until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Other counties in the watch include Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham, Jackson, Lumpkin and White.
A watch means that conditions are favorable for a tornado.
Heavy rain is moving through the region, with wind gusts of up to 35 mph. Occasional lightning is expected, along with possible dime-sized hail, according to the weather service.
The forecast for Monday calls for a 20 percent chance of showers before 2 p.m., with a high temperature of 52.
Conditions for the rest of the work week are expected to improvement considerably, with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s expected.
