Habersham man fatally shot after Fourth of July argument

A Toccoa man was shot Thursday, July 4, and found lying on the ground outside of an Antioch Church Road residence after an argument, according to authorities.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 10:45 p.m. Thursday to the Toccoa residence regarding a potential aggravated assault.

Roger Dale Littleton, 56, was found on the ground. Authorities said Littleton had argued with Jerry Nathaniel Wall, 53, of Toccoa.

“The argument escalated and resulted in Littleton being shot. Littleton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire,” according to a news release from Habersham County authorities.

Littleton’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.

Wall was charged with aggravated assault and “further charges may be forthcoming,” according to Habersham County authorities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of everyone involved in this tragic situation,” McEntire said in the news release.
