The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has obtained a second security video of the suspect in a Thursday robbery and shooting in Cornelia.
“It just lends support to the belief that this is the person involved in the shooting,” said GBI Public Information Officer John Bankhead.
The robbery took place about 10 p.m. Thursday at a Little Caesar’s. A restaurant employee was shot in the head and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she is recovering.
The first video was obtained from a security camera at a Lowe’s home improvement store about a mile away.
“Investigators had gone back to Wal-Mart to double check timing in the Lowe’s video,” Bankhead said. “Sure enough, they saw this person crossing the fence and walking in the direction of Little Caesar’s.”
A white or Hispanic male is seen exiting a dark-colored Pontiac Firebird and walking toward the restaurant.
About 10 minutes after the robbery occurred, the suspect is seen running back to the car and “appears to be sweating,” officials said.
The man in the video has dark hair, is clean shaven and is in his early 20s, officials said. Investigators estimate he is between 190 to 200 pounds and is about 5 foot 7 inches tall.
He was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt, dark pants and a red Jansport backpack.
The car is likely between a 1993 to 2002 model, has tinted windows and a blue and white dealer’s tag with an “A” on it.
Anyone with information on the driver of this car is asked to call the Cornelia Police Department at 706-894-3071 or the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
