The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office took the call after 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20, on Bill Anderson Road in Dahlonega, where deputies discovered Jason Burnette, 43, dead from a gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s office called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist.

GBI officials said Monday, April 22, they were still “working to determine the circumstances,” which will be forwarded to the Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said no arrests have been made.
