Gainesville Police are investigating a Friday burglary at the Georgia Power office on Skelton Road in Gainesville.

The thief or thieves broke into nine separate service trucks and made off with an estimated $10,000 worth of tools and wiring.

Cpl. Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department, said the criminals were possibly looking for copper wiring.

There didn't appear to be any damage to the vehicles and all of the stolen property appears to be that of Georgia Power.

Holbrook said the Criminal Investigations Division is currently reviewing the case and is working closely with Georgia Power to prevent a repeat occurence.

"Anyone that does come in contact with someone attempting to possibly sell these items or has contact with someone with a large quantity of tools or wiring should contact the Gainesville Police Department," Holbrook said.

He added that in difficult economic times, it's important for the community as a whole to be good neighbors and report these crimes.

"These types of crimes do affect the whole community," Holbrook said.
