Gainesville Police worked Sunday to reconstruct an 11-vehicle wreck on Queen City Parkway last week that killed a Cumming woman.
“Cases of this magnitude take longer, simply because of the number of vehicles involved,” spokesman Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.
Police should not have to return to the wreck scene after Sunday’s work, he added.
“The next phase will be the computer downloads of all the information collected today,” Holbrook said.
The reconstruction required closing Queen City Parkway/Ga. 60 for much of the day between Palmour Drive and West Ridge Road.
According to a preliminary report released Friday, Nicole Rocafort, 24, was stopped in the early morning of Nov. 13 at the traffic light at the intersection of Queen City and West Ridge.
A tanker trailer struck Rocafort’s car in the rear and pushed it into a third vehicle, causing the other vehicle to overturn multiple times.
At the same time, Rocafort’s car struck another vehicle, causing it to go into a skid and a chain of cars striking one another.
Rocafort, who died in the wreck, was one of the 14 people involved in the wreck.
Seven people were treated and released at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
