Hall County residents can pour out their concerns about the state’s water plan at tonight’s public hearing.
The Environmental Protection Division has drafted a new water management plan for the state, and it has been revised by the state’s Water Council. This month, the draft is out for public hearings across the state, with the second day of hearings occurring at the Continuing Education Building at Gainesville State College at 6 p.m.
Among other changes, the new plan will require all municiplaities with a water withdrawal permit to develop a water conservation plan. Also, based on the draft of the plan, the state may be required to consider thew water use efficiency of the entity trying to obtain a water withdrawal permit.
Those interested in the state’s water management plan can view it at www.georgiawatercouncil.org.
Those who cannot attend the meeting can submit their comments on the Water Council website through Oct. 30.
