A Forsyth County man was arrested on a murder charge Friday night after allegedly shooting his father to death in a domestic quarrel, authorities said.
Kevin R. Puckett, 24, is accused of shooting 57-year-old Luther Puckett multiple times with a handgun at the family's home at 8166 Castleberry Farm Drive in northern Forsyth County, Forsyth County Sheriff's Lt. Col. Gene Moss said.
Luther Puckett's wife called 911 shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to report the shooting, Moss said. When sheriff's deputies arrived at the home, Luther Puckett was dead.
Kevin Puckett was arrested at the scene without incident, Moss said. He would not comment on whether authorities recovered a handgun, or reveal what type of handgun was used.
"We don't want to go into a whole lot of details until we complete the investigation," Moss said.
Kevin Puckett lived at the house with his father, authorities said. Moss was uncertain whether deputies had been called to the home in the past. He said investigators are still looking into what led to the shooting.
Luther Puckett was shot in different parts of the body, Moss said. Autopsy results were pending Saturday.
Kevin Puckett remained in the Forsyth County Jail on Saturday without bond, charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
