Hall County Fire Services is currently investigating a Thursday evening residential fire.

According to Fire Marshal Scott Cagle, firefighters were called to the 1500 block of Hancock Avenue Extension around 8:30 p.m.

The home sustained heavy damage, and “probably will be a total loss,” Cagle said.

The Gainesville Fire Department provided automatic aid to the incident.

No injuries were reported. The occupant was not at home when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the preliminary damage estimate of the structure is around $50,000, Cagle said.
