A fire Monday evening at a Georgia Avenue duplex in Gainesville did about $2,000 worth of damage, but three residents were unharmed, Hall County Fire Services said.

Firefighters responded at 6:58 p.m. and found smoke showing from one of the units at the duplex, said Fire Marshal Scott Cagle.

Gainesville and Hall County firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and kept the damage to one closet and bedroom area, he said. Three subjects were at home, and all escaped without injury.

The cause is undetermined, but nothing is suspicious, Cagle said.
