A woods fire at about 5:30 a.m. at Old Federal Park consumed about 2.5 acres. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decided to finish burning the area. “This will be the easiest and most controlled way to put out the fire, by letting it finish the burning process and taking away the rest of the ‘fire load,’” Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said.
