Farm Service Agency offices, including the one in Gainesville, are reopening nationwide Thursday despite the federal government shutdown.

The Gainesville office is at 734 East Crescent Drive and can be reached at 770-536-0549. The agency offers loans and assistance to farmers and ranchers.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has temporarily recalled all of the more than 9,700 agency employees to keep offices open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays beginning Thursday.

Through Feb. 8, offices will be open Monday through Friday. After that, offices will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
