Hall County advance voting
When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
Where: Hall County Elections Office, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville
Early Saturday voting will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Hall County Elections Office, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville.
It is the only Saturday during which the polls are open during the three-week early voting period.
Top items on the Nov. 4 ballot include competitive races for governor and U.S. senator. Democrat Jason Carter is campaigning to unseat incumbent Republican Nathan Deal. Democrat Michelle Nunn and Republican David Perdue are battling for a seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss.
Hall County Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee said turnout for early voting, which began Oct. 13, has been strong, with 6,345 voting so far and 850 just on Friday. There also have been 1,199 absentee ballots received.
Statewide, 335,127 ballots were cast through Thursday morning, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Of those, 279,334 were cast in person.
Following today’s Saturday voting opportunity, early voting continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday next week.
Sosebee has said she expects turnout to be around 60 percent of registered voters this general election.
