DOT scales back for Fourth of July

The Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending project-related lane closures on all interstate and major state system highways through Sunday night to ease July Fourth weekend traffic congestion. Lanes will be clear between noon Thursday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Hall County’s largest road construction project involves the rebuilding off Exit 16, or the Mundy Mill Road interchange off Interstate 985, and the construction of a new Exit 17 interchange at Atlanta Highway. Some work may continue on lesser-traveled state and local roads, transportation officials said. For more information on the Georgia DOT, visit its Web site.
