A Hall County Sheriff’s deputy has been released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a wreck this morning in which his car overturned on Interstate 985, officials said.
The deputy, Jonathan Jackson, was in good condition with some soreness and has been sent home to recover, Hall County Sheriff’s Col. Jeff Strickland said.
Rescue workers had to cut open the roof of the car to remove Jackson.
The wreck occurred at about 10 a.m. when the deputy was northbound on 985 in heavy rain.
Jackson lost control of his car, it left the road and struck a guardrail.
The one-vehicle wreck prompted emergency officials to close off the interstate from Exit 12 to Exit 17 for a time. It has since reopened.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
