A woman has been charged in connection with an attempt to purchase a baby on Craigslist for her 14-year-old daughter.

Elaine Williams, 47, of Cumming said her 14-year-old daughter “wanted a baby and would get one with or without her help, so she decided to help,” according to a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The advertisement on the online trade website promised mothers they could drop off their unwanted babies in a "baby box," according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Williams was arrested Friday after a tip about the suspicious ad. She remains detained in the Forsyth County Jail on a $5,610 bond. Her daughter, who lives with Williams in a home off Jot Em Down and Hopewell roads, faces juvenile charges.
