County's 27th rabies case confirmed
Raccoon found in Hubert Stephens Road area in North Hall

Hall County's 27th rabies case was confirmed on Wednesday, after a raccoon came into contact with a dog.

The raccoon was found Sunday in the area of Hubert Stephens Road in North Hall. On Tuesday, the raccoon was sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab, Virology Section in Decatur for testing. On Wednesday, the Gainesville-Hall Animal Control Department was advised that the raccoon was positive for rabies.

At that time, a door to door canvas was done in the area where the rabid raccoon was located. Anyone living in this area or seeing an animal acting abnormal in the Hubert Stephens Road area should contact the Gainesville-Hall Animal Control Department at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 after hours.
