Visitors looking to camp at Lake Lanier parks this summer will find their choices a bit more limited. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday that four Lanier camping areas at Lake Sidney Lanier will be open only four days per week for the upcoming season as a result of federal budget cuts. “To keep our recreation operations within the budget we have received for this year, it will be necessary to reduce days of availability at these four facilities and to reduce service (i.e. mowing, gate attendants’ hours, trash pick-up, etc) at several facilities at Lake Lanier,” said E. Patrick Robbins, Public Affairs Officer for the corps’ Mobile District.
