Kroger Marketplace on Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville donated $2,500 in gift cards to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia on April 13.

The nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and sheltering animals had a large donation box stolen March 28.

“We greatly appreciate Kroger’s commitment to help the community,” said Julie Edwards, executive director of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.

She added that it’s always encouraging for local businesses to support the group, especially in light of the robbery.
