The stained-glass windows at The Henry Edward Braselton Chapel at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton earned a worldwide recognition.

The stained-glass windows featured in The Henry Edward Braselton Chapel at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton have been recognized with a worldwide honor.

The Collaboration of Design and Art named the windows as one of the top 100 projects from around the world for the 2016 CODAawards.

The stained-glass windows were the final element to complete the chapel, which was made possible through a signature gift to The Medical Center Foundation by the family of the late Henry Edward Braselton — who served as mayor of Braselton from 1988 to 2001 and held leadership roles in the Town Council for more than 40 years.

The windows were meticulously crafted over the course of 18 months by a Kentucky artist, Laura Mentor. As part of the design process, Mentor made it a point to truly get to know the Braselton family, and the resulting chapel windows are Mentor’s interpretation of Henry Edward Braselton’s values: illumination, healing, industry and stewardship. The windows also reflect the rural life of an agricultural community and celebrate a shared commitment to live as good stewards of the earth.

The CODAawards celebrate design projects that demonstrate the most successful integration of commissioned art into an interior, architectural or public space. Entries are reviewed by a jury of leaders in the design, architecture and art worlds.

The Henry Edward Braselton Chapel is always open and welcomes patients, their families, staff and the community to experience the stained glass or attend non-denominational services held on Wednesdays at noon and Sundays at 10 a.m. The interfaith chapel is located along the main corridor of the ground floor at the Braselton hospital.
