A Dawson County native has been selected as the county’s new chief operating officer.Cindy Gilleland Campbell was named Thursday night as county manager, replacing Kevin Tanner, following a unanimous vote by the Dawson County Board of Commissioners.Tanner, who was elected to the state House of Representatives in November, is leaving the manager’s post he has held since January 2008. Campbell currently serves as the county’s chief financial officer, a position she has held since 2008. She also served as the county’s interim manager earlier this year when Tanner took a leave of absence to seek the legislative seat.The first woman to hold the position, Campbell, 40, said she looks forward to the new year and beginning her new role.
