Ninth District's Cantrell earns regional Head Start award
Terrie L. Cantrell of Ninth District Opportunity in Gainesville has earned the Achievement Award from the eight-state Head Start Association.

Cantrell, a nine-year Ninth District Opportunity employee, coordinates programs and services for students with disabilities and education plans with 22 school systems in North Georgia.

The award cites "valuable contributions to the children and families," which NDO serves.

Cantrell, a Hall County resident, holds a degree in business administration with a minor in psychology.

"Terrie earned state and southeastern regional honors. Her insight with respect to inclusion services for children with disabilities is extremely valuable to us," said Kay Laws, director of Ninth District's Pre-K and Head Start programs.

Hall County's Coley appointed as DOT District Planning Engineer
Hall County native Kim Coley has been appointed to District Planning and Programming Engineer for Northeast Georgia's District One by the state Department of Transportation.

Coley has worked with the DOT since 1990 in various positions.

The district covers 21 counties in Northeast Georgia.

Coley will be responsible for environmental services plus planning and programming construction projects throughout the area. She will schedule projects and work with local officials and Metropolitan Planning Organizations to ensure preconstruction projects meet their timelines.

Coley is president of the Gainesville chapter of the DOT's Engineer's Association and is a three-time Member of the Year.

She lives in Hall County with her husband, Brian.

Jefferson executive is re-elected to National Cotton Council posts
Werner Bieri, president and CEO of Buhler Quality Yarns in Jefferson, was re-elected to two leadership positions in the National Cotton Council.

Bieri will serve as a director to the Cotton Council International, the NCC's export promotion arm, and will serve as secretary to the council's Georgia unit.

Eight others from Georgia were chosen to board positions with the NCC.

The Memphis-based council includes industry representatives from 17 cotton-producing states to establish policies reflecting their common interests.
