Authorities have determined that the body recovered Monday afternoon from Lake Lanier was that of a Gwinnett County man.

Curtis I. Lee, 52, was found submerged in the water at Six Mile Creek Park, according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Forsyth County Fire firefighters retrieved Lee’s body from just off the bridge at Browns Bridge Road (Hwy. 369) in the park. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the area about 5 p.m. when a passer-by reported a suspicious vehicle that had been at the park all day.

Nothing preliminary in the investigation indicated foul play, Rodriguez said, though the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will perform an autopsy.

Lee had not been reported missing, Rodriguez said.
