A pickup truck crashed into a Gainesville home after 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in northwest Hall, authorities said.

Georgia State Patrol Cpl. J.G. Tucker said a Dodge Ram truck was being pulled by another vehicle up a steep driveway with a tow strap.

“Once (the truck) got to the top of the driveway, the tow strap came off from (the truck),” Tucker wrote in an email.

The driver of the truck told state patrol that the “brakes did not hold,” and the truck went down the driveway and struck the house.

The passenger in the truck was transported by Hall County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with minor injuries, Tucker said.

Hall County Fire Services EMS Division Chief Christie Grice said there was heavy damage to the kitchen and bathroom in the home.

“The instability of the structure displaced the family,” Grice wrote in an email.

Grice said there were no injuries in the home.

Georgia State Patrol, Hall County Fire Services, the Hall County Marshal's Office, a county building inspector and Jackson EMC responded to the scene.
