A Gainesville man is facing a charge of robbery by sudden snatching after allegedly taking a woman’s vape pen, according to authorities.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 in the 300 block of Highland Terrace.
“According to the initial investigation, a man, 26, and woman, 23, arrived at the location to look at some kittens. (The suspect) snatched a vape pen from the woman’s hands through the window of a truck she was in,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in an email.
When deputies encountered the 39-year-old suspect, they found the vape pen after he turned out his pockets, Booth said.
The man allegedly resisted the arrest, which resulted in a misdemeanor obstruction charge.
He was booked in to the Hall County Jail Monday, where he is still being held on a total $9,170 bond.
The case is still under investigation.
