The death of a Snellville woman found in Lake Lanier Sunday has been ruled an accidental drowning following an autopsy.

Susan Button, 60, was with family preparing for a day on the lake with their boat, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Nicole Bailes. She said family found her floating near the dock in an area off Lakeview Drive and Woodlake Drive in South Hall County and took her out of the water, she said.

“Rescue efforts were performed on the (woman) until medical personnel could arrive on scene,” Bailes said.

Button was pronounced dead upon arriving at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Button taught school for 35 years, according to her obituary with Tom M. Wages Funeral Service. She is survived by her husband and son.
