Two charges were added for one man accused in a Lula armed robbery Monday.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office authorities said a 15-year-old girl walking in Lula was threatened at gunpoint, assaulted and robbed of a cellphone.

Spokesman Derreck Booth said the charges added were aggravated assault and battery for Martin Martinez-Morales, 38, of Lula.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office authorities responded around 8:50 p.m. Monday, July 29, to Wheeler Road regarding a girl being assaulted.

“According to the preliminary investigation, two men in a pickup truck pulled alongside the girl, the driver making threatening statements and pointing a handgun at her. As the victim tried to run, the truck pulled over in front of her,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in a news release.

Booth said two men exited the vehicle, with one of the men allegedly grabbing the girl by her shirt.

“He also kicked her and threw her on the ground. She was able to get up and run for help while the suspects took the phone she had dropped,” Booth wrote.

Deputies found the pickup truck in a Wheeler Road residential driveway and arrested the two men inside the truck.

Martin Martinez Morales and Miguel Angel Martinez-Morales, 30, of Lula, were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Booth said a gun was found in the residence.

No attorney information was available for either suspect Tuesday, July 30.
