A man is in custody after a Monday robbery at the Ingles on Winder Highway, authorities said.

Denny Russell Jr., 42, of Winder has been charged with robbery by intimidation and terroristic threats, according to a news release from Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes.

The sheriff’s office responded to an incident at the grocery store’s pharmacy when a man reportedly crossed the counter demanding narcotic medications from the pharmacist.

After receiving the prescription drugs he fled and threatened an Ingles employee in the parking lot with a firearm, although he never brandished a weapon, Bailes said.

The suspect fled the business in a silver Ford Taurus. There were no injuries reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
