Authorities ID jogger killed after being hit by vehicle in Jefferson

A Jefferson man who died Thursday morning after being hit by a car on a Jefferson roadway has been identified by authorities.

Jeremy A. Williams, 37, succumbed to his injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville after an incident Wednesday night in Jackson County.

The other party has not been identified by authorities. Georgia State Patrol officials said the report was incomplete Friday afternoon.

The State Patrol reported the vehicle was headed westbound around 7 p.m. Wednesday on Doster Road in Jefferson when the incident occurred.

“(The car) traveled over a small hillcrest and into a lefthand curve in the roadway,” according to State Patrol. “As (the car) negotiated the curve, the front right headlight of (the car) struck the pedestrian.”

Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said Williams died at 12:23 a.m. Thursday.
