A Gainesville man is accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl, according to authorities.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the girl was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Saturday, July 14, by a relative.
“Upon learning the molestation had occurred, the adult relative took the victim to the hospital to be checked out. The relative disclosed what she had discovered,” Booth wrote in an email.
A sheriff’s office criminal investigations division member was dispatched to the hospital.
Robert Lewis Chandler, 65, was then taken into custody Saturday and booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains. He was charged with child molestation and felony sexual battery.
“During the investigation, law enforcement determined that Chandler did repeated immoral and indecent acts to the victim at a residence in the county,” Booth wrote in a news release.
Booth said the suspect was acquainted with the girl, and investigators believe the alleged acts happened between September and Saturday.
