A Norcross man faces methamphetamine trafficking charges after about $101,000 worth of meth was seized, authorities said.

Ricardo Torres-Avalos, 36, was arrested Tuesday and booked in to the Hall County Jail.

“It was actually found loose in a cooler, one of those gallon-jug drinking type coolers,” Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad Lt. Don Scalia said.

Torres-Avalos was indicted in June for possession of approximately 1,010 grams of meth following a nearly four-year investigation. According to authorities, the Norcross man was identified as a meth trafficking suspect in July 2012.

Scalia said the lapse between becoming a suspect and the indictment was longer than the typical investigation.

“It’s just due to the nature of that particular investigation,” the lieutenant said. “Things just rolled on longer than normal.”

Torres-Avalos posted a bond Tuesday night.

Scalia said no additional charges or arrests are anticipated in this case.
