A Gainesville man was accused of having more than $10,000 in drugs after evading a traffic safety checkpoint, according to authorities.
Josheau K. Hester, 35, was charged with possession of MDMA and marijuana with intent to distribute.
The Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad said Hester allegedly fled from a Georgia State Patrol traffic safety checkpoint Saturday. He was arrested near Old Cornelia Highway and East Ridge Road after a short chase, authorities said.
Authorities reportedly found “2 pounds of marijuana in six separate bags, 32 vials of THC liquid, 14 grams of hash oil, over 60 MDMA tablets, a 9mm caliber handgun, digital scales, a smoking device and (more than) $6,000 in cash.”
Hester was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, fleeing, reckless driving, DUI and other charges.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $10,290.
