Atlanta Gas Light Co. customers will begin seeing the first in a series of escalating surcharges on their bills in January as the utility undertakes a $215 million statewide project. Ratepayers will see a 48-cent surcharge on their monthly bills, then an additional 48 cents beginning in January 2016 and 47 cents starting in January 2017. The charges stem from planned improvements to AGL’s pipeline distribution system, as approved in late 2013 by the Georgia Public Service Commission.
