A vacant house off Atlanta Highway burned Tuesday night, and firefighters suspect the blaze was intentionally set. No one was injured.
Hall County firefighters responded to a house fire at 111 Hall St. about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor called in a report of smoke coming from the home, Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said. The empty house is in a low-income residential area between Atlanta Highway and Industrial Boulevard.
When firefighters arrived, flames and smoke were visible. The fire was quickly extinguished and most of the damage to the house was confined to smoke damage, Kimbrell said.
Fire investigators believe the fire was intentionally set because there was more than one point of origin, Kimbrell said. There have been no other suspicious fires in the area, he said.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
