The Hall County Animal Control Director said Thursday his officers had received a positive update on a child bitten by a dog earlier this week.

“The last I heard, he was up and eating and moving around and seemed to be in good spirits. … It was the uncle of the victim that told the officers when they went back out yesterday,” Mike Ledford said Thursday.

An 8-year-old boy was bitten in the face by a dog Monday, June 10, while playing in an open garage in the 3000 block of Southchase Drive.

“Once our medics assessed the child, (they) determined he needed to be flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston,” Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zachary Brackett said Tuesday.

The dog, described previously as a labrador-mix, was taken in for a 10-day bite quarantine. Ledford said Thursday a decision regarding the dog will be made not long after the quarantine expires. He added his office is continuing to investigate the owners.
