$43K in marijuana seized on its way to Habersham; two arrested

Authorities intercepted a package containing 9 pounds of “high-grade marijuana” headed to a Habersham County address.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office arrested two in an investigation of drugs allegedly shipped from California to Georgia.

The street value of the drugs was $43,200.

Daniel Quintana, 36, of Stockton, Calif., and Armando Cabrera Quintana, 57, of Commerce, are charged with conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

According to drug enforcement officials, Daniel Quintana allegedly shipped the marijuana to Habersham County. The package was intercepted in Athens.

Officials from Habersham and Banks counties reportedly learned the address was used “only as a receiving location for the marijuana,” according to a news release from authorities.

Armando Quintana was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center. Daniel Quintana is set to be extradited to Habersham County, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.
