A 377-unit amenity-filled, senior living housing development off Friendship Road in South Hall was approved Monday, May 14, by the Braselton Town Council.
The “Friendship Village” development would be on 63 acres at 2846 Friendship Road, or between Windgate Drive and Sardis Church Road.
The complex will feature 177 age-restricted detached single-family homes, a 120-unit independent living residential facility, 50 assisted living units and 30 memory care units.
Also planned are two clubhouses with fitness facilities, swimming pools and walking trails stretching through 9 acres, plus another 39,000 square feet of “neighborhood-serving retail space,” he said.
Other details, including when the project might start and be completed, weren’t available Tuesday, May 15.
The developer, Friendship Road 53 LLC, got the go-ahead on the project with the council voting to rezone the property from agriculture and residential categories to planned unit development.
A traffic study done as part of the request says that Friendship Road at Woody Springs Drive and Friendship at Sardis Church would be “significantly impacted” by the development.
The study recommends traffic lights at both intersections, as well as a northbound right-turn lane at Friendship and Woody Springs.
In a project completed in recent years, Friendship Road/Ga. 347 was widened by the Georgia Department of Transportation to six lanes — four lanes in some places — between Interstate 985 and Old Winder Highway/Ga. 211.
