A 23-year-old man is dead after a fight at a Gainesville apartment complex, police say.

Daniel Adame of Gainesville was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Sunday morning, and police are still investigating the incident that led up to his death.

Police believe Adame was somehow involved in a fight at Lenox Park Apartments shortly before 5 a.m., according to a news release from the Gainesville Police Department.

Gainesville police responded to reports of the fight at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday, but before police arrived to the scene, 911 dispatchers notified them that vehicles were leaving. Police found one of those vehicles at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Both Adame and another person, who police did not identify in the release, were in the vehicle.

Adame was later pronounced dead, and police say the other person in the vehicle is being treated at the hospital for injuries sustained in the fight.

Representatives of the department could not be reached immediately for comment Sunday, but according to a news release, they are still investigating several leads connected to the incident.

Anyone with information may contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 770-534-5254 or the Tips Line at 770-533-5873.
