The last communication between Magen Summers and her mother was a note written on a napkin.
“I came in and sat down in my chair, which is kind of cream-colored, so the napkin kind of blended in with the chair,” said Margaret Summers, who found the note the next morning and called the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
It was a full month later — Oct. 1, 1997 — when investigators identified the body of Magen, 16.
The medical examiner’s office determined Magen had been strangled. Her body was found in a lot on Fair Street near Walker Street in southwest Atlanta, a few blocks from the Fulton County Police Department.
Now 20 years later, Margaret Summers still wonders if the killer will ever be brought to justice.
Atlanta Police took jurisdiction of the case, and calls to the department’s major crimes and criminal investigations division from The Times were not returned.
20 years later, no answers for mother seeking daughter’s killer
