Law enforcement officers said Friday, May 18, they have found more than a kilogram of methamphetamine valued at $100,000 at a Gainesville apartment.

Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad agents searched a Campus Pointe Circle apartment Thursday, May 17, where Chris Lee Dilbeck, 47, and Melissa Ann Dilbeck, 46, lived.

“The suspects were found in possession of over 1 kilogram of methamphetamine packaged in over 20 separate bags and two containers,” Lt. Don Scalia said.

Authorities also retrieved a 9 mm pistol, digital scales, packaging materials and more than $1,400 in cash.

Chris and Melissa Dilbeck were charged with trafficking and possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Chris Dilbeck was also charged with possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.

Vera Lou Bateman, 48, of Talmo, was also charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Robbie Louise Gabriel, 32, of Gainesville, was charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

James Kerry Towe, 36, of Jefferson, was charged with criminal attempt to traffic methamphetamine.

All five were in the apartment and booked Thursday and Friday in to the Hall County Jail, where they remain.
