Julie Ann Schmidt and David Joseph Oxner were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. May 29, 2010, in the Day Chapel at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens. The bride is the daughter of Timothy and Deborah Mixon of Athens, Steven Schmidt of Sharpsburg and Kristen McWhorter of St. Mary's. The groom is the son of William Oxner of Lorena, Texas and Cathleen and Fred Eldridge of Toledo, Ohio.

The Rev. Tracy Mays performed the ceremony. Violinist Heather Strachan, violist Edie Benson and cellist Wendy Baker presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her family. The bride's friend Katie Moreau of Washington, D.C., was matron of honor. The bride's sister Elizabeth Mixon of Athens was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Cristina Jurach of Falls Church, Va., Emmy McMillan of Richmond, Va., Thu Ong of Boston, Mass., and Danielle Vogel of Alexandria, Va. The groom's cousin Catherine Prus of Bloomington, Ill., was the flower girl.

The groom's friend Daniel Boritt of Washington, D.C., was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Will Cannon and Todd Slaby, both of Charlotte, N.C., Charles Cushman of New Bern, N.C. Brandt Leibe and Thayer Long, both of Arlington, Va., and the bride's brother Phillip Mixon of Athens. The bride's cousin Ashton Shields of Bethlehem was the ring bearer.

The groom's family gave a rehearsal dinner at Ciné in Athens on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's families gave a reception in the Visitor Center at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Santa Margherita, Florence and Bellagio, Italy, the couple reside in Alexandria, Va.
