Derek and Kaley Smith

Kaley Ellyn Peek and Derek Logan Smith were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Sept. 28, 2013, at Gainesville First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Robert and Becky Peek of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Richard and Kathleen Smith of Mobile, Ala.

Minister Buz Wilcoxon performed the ceremony. Organist Keith Jefcoat, vocalist John Minton and cellist Noemi Kurylo presented a program of wedding music. Elizabeth Story and John Minton sang “A Thousand Years” for the first dance.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friends Aubrey Canniff-Kesecker of Venice, Fla., and Brittany Porch of Granville, Ohio, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Emily Loewen of Braselton and Kara Bast of Atlanta, and the groom’s sister Shannon Bishop of Laurel, Md. The bride’s cousin Lohi Wilcoxon of Greenville, S.C., was the flower girl.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s friend David Kay of Grovetown, the groom’s brother-in-law Daniel Bishop of Laurel, Md., the bride’s brother Seth Peek of Atlanta, and the bride’s friend Stephen Wright of New York City, N.Y. The bride’s cousin Wright Wilcoxon of Fairhope, Ala., was the ring bearer.

Sherri Christensen was the wedding coordinator. Maggie Elrod kept the bride’s book. Lucy Link was the church hostess.

The bride wore her mother’s bridal pearl earrings and carried her mother’s handkerchief and garter in her bouquet.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Gainesville First United Methodist Church in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at The Walters Barn in Lula following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to the Dominican Republic, the couple reside in Greenville, S.C.
