Miss Mary Alice Parker and Mr. Steven Thomas Lathem were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Nov. 20, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Winder. The bride is the daughter of Ms. Susan Sanders Parker and Mr. Wayne Boyd Parker of Winder. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Lathem of Murrayville.
The Rev. Larry Rary performed the ceremony. Trumpeter Mr. Alex Boscoff, pianist Mrs. Kathy Merck, vocalist Mrs. Joy Boscoff and organist Mr. John Neighbors presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's friends, Mrs. Ashley Poppell Anderson of Irmo, S.C., and Mrs. Brooke Faulkner Vickery of Fountain Inn, S.C., were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Mrs. Carrie Shipplett Davis of Winder, Miss Elizabeth Ann Herring of James Island, S.C., and Miss Mary Anne Parker of Charlotte, N.C. Junior bridesmaids were the groom's nieces, Miss Selena Bree Ann Lathem and Miss Callie Rae Lathem, both of Gainesville.
The groom's brother, Mr. Terry Lee Lathem of Atlanta, was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Mr. Matthew Gregory Hamby of Lula, Mr. Nathan Wiley Hamby of Flowery Branch, Mr. Jared Daniel Osborne of Gainesville and brother Mr. Joshua Raymond Lathem of Gainesville. Ushers were Mr. William Joseph Boyd Jr.; Mr. James Burtz Campbell Jr.; Mr. Nicholaus Alan Miller; and Mr. Thomas Tharpe Sanders Jr.
The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Constance Manor in Winder on the eve of the wedding.
The bride's parents gave a reception at Athens Country Club in Athens following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple reside in Smyrna.
