Melissa and Thomas Pennington

Melissa Dawn Miller and Thomas Durward Pennington III were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. March 7, 2009, at The Old Place in Gautier, Miss. The bride is the daughter of Billy Maurice Miller of Pascagoula, Miss., and the late Betty Johnston Miller. The groom is the son of Thomas Durward Jr. and Betsy Thurmond Pennington of Gainesville.

The Rev. Clint Regen performed the ceremony. Pianist Gary Levon Bardwell, flutist Mary Lyndia Crotteau Huffman and vocalist Rebecca Gill Bradley presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's sister Michelle Miller Smith of Ocean Springs, Miss., was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Trinity Vaughan Bains, Alice Kate McIlwain Berry, Christine Fairleigh Cunningham; the bride's sister-in-law Lori Bosarge Miller, Melissa McElhaney Schnoor and Callie Murray Randle, all of Pascagoula; the bride's friends Mona Mahmoud Elsohly and Shahira Mahmoud Elsohly of Atlanta; the groom's sisters Susan Pennington Rosetti of Gainesville and Carrie Pennington Safarriyeh of Alpharetta; and the bride's friend Mary Katherine Kinard of Punta Gorda, Fla.

The groom's niece Olivia Sarah Rosetti of Gainesville and the bride's niece Sophie Caroline Smith of Ocean Springs, Miss., were the flower girls. Sophie Ann Rosetti, Sadie Grace Smith and Holly Winslow Mitchell assisted.

The groom's father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Larry Eugene Babb Jr. of Stockbridge, William Patrick Carter and William Larry Holcomb, both of Gainesville, Karl Gordon Lutz of Peachtree City, Richard Jason Tam of Raleigh, N.C., and the bride's brother Michael Wilson Miller of Pascagoula. The groom's nephew Tyler Wahl Safarriyeh of Alpharetta was the ring bearer.

Lynn Stallworth McIlwain and Anna Lynn McIlwain were the wedding coordinators.

The bride carried an antique handkerchief belonging to the groom's mother, wore her grandmother's antique diamond ring and had a sixpence in her shoe that belonged to a family friend of the groom.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi, Miss., on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's father gave a reception at The Old Place, following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii, the couple reside in Atlanta.
