Meredith Greer Melvin and Jay Allen Weaver were united in marriage at 5 p.m. May 26, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall Melvin Sr. of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Fredrick Weaver of Rochester Hills, Mich.

The Rev. Paul Wylder Evans and Dr. David Lynwood McDonald performed the ceremony. Organist David Keith Jefcoat, vocalist Michelle Lynne Martin, violinist Dorothy Lawrence Knowles and cellist Mary Alice Swope presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend Christina Scholly Raasch of Atlanta was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins Anna Greer Branch of Tifton and Rebecca Tatum Howell of Norfolk, Va., and the groom’s sister Janice Weaver Rex of Bath, N.Y.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s friends Stephen John Aumock of Dallas, Texas, Andrew Michael Showich of Birmingham, Mich., and Scott William Sylvester of Mattawan, Mich., the bride’s brother John Marshall Melvin Jr. of Atlanta, and the groom’s brother Jeffery Lynn Weaver of Auburn Hills, Mich.

The bride’s family gave a garden reception at the home of the bride’s parents in Gainesville following the ceremony. Ushers were the bride’s cousins Marshall Patton Eberhart of Birmingham, Ala., and William Frank Eberhart Jr. of Athens.
