Sharon Susanna Hoffmann and Richard Hunter Oates Jr. were united in marriage at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10, 2009, at Crescent Beach Club in Bayville, N.Y. The bride is the daughter of Charles and Susan S. Hoffmann of East Norwich, N.Y. The groom is the son of Richard Sr. and Kathy K. Oates of Gainesville.
The Rev. Young Shik Kim performed the ceremony. Violinist Dorothy Moore and guitarist Kevin Cahill presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's friend Catherine Biondo of Oyster Bay, N.Y., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Danielle Dreilinger of Somerville, Mass., Abigail Fusaro of Wenham, Mass., and Lauren Zembko of East Norwich, N.Y. The bride's cousin Claire Hoffmann of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., was the flower girl.
The groom's father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother Campbell Oates of Atlanta and the groom's friends Michael Gurley and Peter Budny, both of Atlanta. Program attendants were Jamie and John Oates.
The bride wore a bracelet belonging to her paternal grandmother and a locket and carried a purse belonging to her maternal grandmother. The bride's wedding band belonged to the groom's great-grandmother and the groom's wedding band belonged to the bride's grandfather.
The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Hay Barn in Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in Oyster Bay, N.Y., on the eve of the wedding.
The bride's parents gave a reception at Crescent Beach Club in Bayville, N.Y., following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to the North Fork of Long Island, N.Y., the couple reside in Ann Arbor, Mich.
