Thomas and Amanda Lucas

Amanda Ray Henderson and Thomas Royce Lucas were united in marriage at 1 p.m. May 31, 2008, at Historic Richland Church in Jeffersonville. The bride is the daughter of Martha Rae Saxon of Cleveland and the late Ray Alan Henderson. The groom is the son of Carolyn Williams Lucas of Jeffersonville and the late Royce George Lucas.

David Brown and Shellie Inzer performed the ceremony. Vocalist Melanie Cross and violinist Sue Tomlin presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was escorted by her mentor Ricky Barrett of Cleveland and presented in marriage by her mother. The bride's friend Nicole Smith Farless of Hampton was honorary matron of honor. The groom's sister Christian Lucas Hatcher of Dry Branch was a bridesmaid. The bride and groom's mothers served as attendants. Sandra Cochran of Macon was the wedding coordinator. Emily Barrett of Cleveland and Whitney Hatcher of Dry Branch were bell ringers.

The groom's friend Jeremy Johnson of Danville was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother Curt Lucas of Jeffersonville and the bride's brother Benjamin Henderson of Long Island, N.Y.

The bride carried a handkerchief that belonged to her great-grandmother, and the groom's wedding ring was made from gold from the bride's great-grandfather's wedding ring.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Porker's Barbecue Restaurant in Allentown on the eve of the wedding. The bride and groom were pleased to have married in the presence of the groom's father before his passing shortly after the wedding.

Following a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple resides in Danville.
